Image Detector

JPG and PNG analysis with visible reasoning

Image checks are reported as separate signals with confidence, never as a single verdict — generated imagery and heavily edited photography can look alike.

No image analysis runs in this build. The checks listed here describe the planned signal set for the detection backend.

AI detection is probabilistic. This result does not establish authorship and should not be used as the sole basis for academic, employment, disciplinary, or legal decisions.

Planned image signals

  • Content credentials

Reads signed C2PA manifests when a camera or editor has attached them.

  • Compression history

Looks for recompression patterns inconsistent with a claimed capture.

  • Noise fingerprint

Compares sensor-noise structure against typical generated output.

  • Frequency artifacts

Detects periodic artifacts common to upsampling and diffusion pipelines.

  • Embedded metadata

Surfaces EXIF, producer tags and generation software fields.

  • Duplicate lookup

Flags near-identical images already seen in your workspace.

Limitations

Image detection is the least certain surface

Screenshots, resaves, social platform recompression and ordinary retouching all degrade the available signals. Treat image results as a prompt to investigate, never as a conclusion.
